چکیده

Multipath is one of the most dominant sources of errors in Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). In this paper we present two tracking structures with multiple gate delays and compare their performance with the performance of Narrow Correlator and High Resolution Correlator. The performance criteria are based on the Multipath Error Envelopes (MEEs), the Root Mean Square Errors (RMSEs) and the Mean Time to Lose Lock (MTLL) in multipath channels. It is shown here that the traditional MEE criterion can be misleading with respect to the performance in fading multipath channels. It is also shown that the proposed multiple delay gate structures have promising tracking performance in short delay multipath scenarios.

Efficient Delay Tracking Methods with Sidelobes Cancellation for BOC-Modulated Signals

In positioning applications, where the line of sight (LOS) is needed with high accuracy, the accurate delay estimation is an important task. The new satellite-based positioning systems, such as Galileo and modernized GPS, will use a new modulation type, that is, the binary offset carrier (BOC) modulation. This type of modulation creates multiple peaks (ambiguities) in the envelope of the correl...

Codes Cross-Correlation Impact on S-Curve Bias and Data-Pilot Code Pairs Optimization for CBOC Signals

The aim of this paper is to analyze the impact of spreading codes cross-correlation on code tracking performance, and to optimize the data-pilot code pairs of Galileo E1 Open Service (OS) Composite Binary Offset Carrier (CBOC) signals. The distortion of the discriminator function (i.e., S-curve), due to data and pilot spreading codes cross-correlation properties, is evaluated when only the data...

A Method of Side-peak Mitigation Applied to Binary Offset Carrier Modulated Gnss Signals Tracking Applied in Gnss Receivers

In this study, a new method of signal tracking technique in Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is proposed. It is based on a combination of the autocorrelation function (ACF) with another cross correlation function in order to eliminate or reduce the power of the side peaks in ACF of Binary Offset Carrier (BOC) modulated signals. These types of modulated signals are adopted by both GNSSs...

A Reduced Search Space Maximum Likelihood Delay Estimator for Mitigating Multipath Effects in Satellite-based Positioning

Multipath is one of the dominant error sources in global navigation satellite systems, such as the Global Positioning System or the future European satellite navigation system, Galileo. The reception of multipath may create a bias into the time delay estimate of the delay lock loop of a conventional navigation receiver, which eventually leads to an error in the receiver's position estimate. In ...
